 Hyde Park Sydney Thinking Routine

In the picture we can see two old man playing a human-sized chess game in the middle of a really beautiful park. It seems like the game must be quite interesting because they have some spectators. I think that these people might usually play at the park, because in order to have spectators, you must have had played before more than once. 

The park were they are playing this chess game is called Hyde Park in Sydney. It’s known for being Australia’s oldest park as well as one of it’s most well known. The Park is filled of thousand of trees, monuments and art. Some of the activities you could do are; exploring monuments and memorials such as the Archibald Fountain or the Captain James Cook Statue. You can also enjoy recreational activities. The perfect example is the giant chess set, but there are other  possibilities like picnicking, walking paths… Furthermore, there are nearby, some really interesting attractions, such as the Australian museum or the St. Mary’s Carhedral.

I live in Bilbao, which is a completely different city from Sydney. Here, we don’t have such interesting parks. However, we do have different museums, art sculptures and of course, plenty of different activities to do around the city. My friends and I often walk next to the river because is our favorite place to walk trough. We also enjoy going to some of the parks of the city, such as the lion’s park and the duck’s park. Both of this parks are perfect to relax and admire the nature, so I really like them. I have been  playing basketball since I was a child. This sport, unfortunately, can not be played in any park so I always have to play in basketball courts.

Art Gallery of New South Wales

  Art Gallery of New South Wales  The Art Gallery of New South Wales, was founded in 1874 by Dr Michael Brand. It is known because of it’s extensive collection of Australian, European and Asian aboriginal art. It’s the most important public gallery in Sydney and one of the largest in Australia.  After visiting is, I realized that work of art that really drawn my attention was the Castle Upnor, River Medway. It was made on 1833 by Joseph Mallord William Turner. It was an English painter specialized in landscapes. He was born in 1775 and he died in 2851. It was considered a controversial figure in his time., but also, one of the best painters of landscapes.  I choose his work of art because all the little details that contains. The castle, the incredible ancient ships,  the dog, the fisherman’s and the little city we can see far away from the coast. I apreciate a lot, all the effort, strength and time he had to invert to create such a beautiful and realistic paint...
